Rufus Wainwright's cover of Across the Universe is my favorite. There, I said it. I may not be a true Beatles fan now, but I will proudly admit that I love Rufus' cover more than John Lennon's. There is something about his deep, rich voice that gives me chills and makes me feel safe.
I love Rufus because he is so talented. He has an incredible vocal range, which is uncommon in pop music today. His songs are deep and introspective, as well as fun and flirty. His sultry, smooth voice still gives me shivers.
It's just too hard to explain! There is something unique about Rufus Wainwright that makes me a little crazy. His album, Poses, blows my mind every time I listen to it. Whenever I am feeling down, if I just turn on some of his songs, I will feel happy again. It's just this crazy love I've had for him since I was about 15.
Listen to his version of Across the Universe. You can't help but be drawn in by his melodic tones. It's just so fabulous. And check out his albums, they will rock your socks off.
