Day 3 — Your parents

Day 3 — Your parents

My parents are fantastic.  Everyone says that, but they are wrong.  My parents rock and are better than yours, so just accept it.

My parents met at BYU at a dance.  Basically, my dad fell in love with my mom sight-on-seen, because she is beautiful and wonderful.  They were also in the same ward and my mom was the chorister/music leader for their ward.  My dad is, how you say, tonedeaf?  And can't read a lick of music, so he would just stare at my pretty mom while she led the songs.  He even went to choir practice because of her!  Anyways, he did not give up on her and eventually won her over due to his fun nature and they have been married 26 years this past August.

My mom is a cute little lady.  She is 5'2", and I outgrew her height-wise when I was in the fifth grade.  I inherited my mom's lovely tan complexion, dark hair and eyes, and musical talent (so did my brother and sister).  One of my favorite things about my mom is that she is kind of weird.  Well, the rest of us are so weird already, that it looks like my mom is the most normal one.  But then she does things like talk to the cats while I'm on the phone with her, or say, 'I lost my balance' in a funny southern accent.  My mom is so patient (you'd have to be, with my crazy family) and loving, and is good to talk to.  And those are some of the many reasons why I look up to her and hope that someday I can be a great mom like her.

My dad is a big goofball and it's easy to love him.  He is .. just wacky.  It's hard to describe because he is seriously weird, in the best way possible.  Once you've met my dad, you'll understand why I married Zak.  They are both fun guys that I love being around.  One of my favorite things about my dad is his total lack of musical talent.  He knows he can't sing on-key, but he still sings anyways.  With his headphones in.  While doing the dishes.  It's so funny.  I also have fun memories of him dancing and singing to 80s music.  But as funny and goofy as my dad is, he is also my big strong daddy that I can trust and ask for help.  He's always supported our family and has been a great example to me.  Oh, plus he also helps out with all of the housework, so having a husband who is helpful in any situation became a priority to me from early on, because of my dad.

I love my parents a lot and couldn't ask for any two better people in my life.  They are so cute together, still, after all these years and anyone can tell just by looking at them that they are still in love.  And someday they'll make great grandparents, hey-o!  Well, in years they'll make great grandparents.  But we'll get there when we get there...in years.
